Compression Quality

Applies when the target format is JPG, WebP (lossy), or AVIF (lossy).

Lower values mean smaller files and more visible loss. We recommend 75 as a balanced default.

If the file is still too large, try lowering resolution—it often helps more than quality alone.

Resolution

Scale by percentage while keeping aspect ratio; 100% keeps the original size.

Reducing resolution can dramatically shrink files—often the most effective lever for oversized photos.

Compared with 100%: ~75% resolution saves ~30% size; ~50% saves ~65%; ~25% saves ~88% on average (other settings equal).

Output Format

Pick an output format—each has different strengths and use cases.

JPG：Most popular; no transparency. vs uncompressed PNG, often ~90% smaller. At quality 75, loss is usually hard to notice. Best default when you do not need alpha.

PNG (Lossy)：Transparency with slight loss; ~70% smaller than uncompressed PNG on average. Prefer JPG if you do not need transparency; prefer WebP (lossy) if PNG is not required.

PNG (Lossless)：Transparency without loss; ~20% smaller than uncompressed PNG. WebP (lossless) is often a better pick when PNG is not mandatory.

WebP (Lossy)：Transparency with slight loss; ~90% smaller vs uncompressed PNG—strong alternative to lossy PNG. Some older clients lack WebP support.

WebP (Lossless)：Lossless transparency; ~50% smaller vs uncompressed PNG. Older devices may not support WebP.

AVIF (Lossy)：Higher compression than WebP; ~94% smaller vs uncompressed PNG on average. Compatibility is still evolving—best when you know targets support AVIF.

AVIF (Lossless)：Lossless transparency but savings vs uncompressed PNG can be modest or negative. PNG/WebP lossless are often simpler choices.
